Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event.
We are now seeking to appoint Ladies Workroom Assistant Manager.
Working collaboratively with the Manager/Lead Cutter in this role you will lead staff and manage all activities in the Ladies Workroom required for the repair and making of items for productions, achieving the highest standards to realise the Designers’ creative vision.
What you’ll bring
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate
- A Theatrical Costume and Design course qualification to degree level, or comparable qualification/degree in a relevant craft skills area.
- A proven track record in craft skills workrooms with a major production theatre or venue, or comparable film/TV experience
- Extensive practical cutting and making experience with a sympathetic approach to creative concepts, interpreting practical terms, as well as excellent knowledge of modern and traditional methods of construction, periods styles, and history of costumes.
- Positive leadership style, leading by example and strong relationship management skills and clear communicator with a proactive approach to communication
- An excellent knowledge of costume fitting and alteration techniques.
- Able to accurately interpret design concepts from scale drawings and sketches and to assist in passing work onto the team.
