Overview: Scenic Metalwork Apprentice – a fixed‑term apprenticeship lasting two years, starting September 2026. The role is based at High House Production Workshop, Purfleet Essex, 42.5 hours per week. Salary: £28,089.10 per annum for 42.5 hours per week. The apprenticeship is under the Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard, with study provided by South Essex College. Apprentices will work at the Royal Opera House and gain practical skills in metalworking for stage sets.
Responsibilities:
- Develop specialist metalworking skills.
- Work with tools, engineering, and craftsmanship to construct stage sets from scratch.
- Attend training and study sessions alongside the College Training Provider.
Eligibility:
- You must be 18 years old or over by 7 September 2026.
- You must have work authorisation for the UK.
- You must have ordinarily resided in the United Kingdom for at least the three consecutive years prior to the start of the programme.
- You must not have completed a degree or equivalent level qualification in the UK or elsewhere.
- You must not have over six months of experience working in a similar role.
Apprenticeship Details:
- The apprentice will be paid at the National Living Wage, rising by 2.5% after the first year.
- College fees will be paid by the Royal Ballet and Opera, and trainees are expected to cover travel to work and college.
