Boarding at Royal Alexandra & Albert School provides a distinct pastoral experience for students aged 7-18. The boarding provision supports the school’s values of ambition, courage, integrity and respect and benefits from a vibrant community of approximately 300 full boarders who participate in a wide range of activities and trips.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of House to meet national minimum standards for boarding houses in accordance with inspection regulations
  • Assist with the health and safety of the boarding house
  • Liaise with the health centre regarding boarders’ medical requirements and encourage healthy lifestyles
  • Be available to assist in the care and supervision of boarders who are unwell
  • Support the implementation of a fair and clearly understood sanction system
  • Assist in communication with parents/guardians to keep them fully informed about their child’s progress and welfare
  • Coordinate laundry for the students within the boarding house
  • Offer mentoring and support to students throughout the day in the boarding house

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide inspiring and high‑quality pastoral care, supporting the wellbeing and development of all students
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with students, staff and families, contributing to a collaborative school community
