We Are The Royal Alexandra and Albert School exists to give our children a distinctly different start in life, preparing them for the world with hope, optimism, compassion and empathy. We are a co-educational, non-selective state boarding school, for boys and girls aged 7 – 18. This is a boarding school with Flexi Boarding students attending from the local area and a lively community of around 400 Full Boarders, passionately involved in a wide range of after-school and weekend activities and trips.

Our Ofsted inspection of March 2024 states: “pupils are happy and well cared for at Royal Alexandra and Albert School. They benefit from positive relationships with staff across the school. Pupils feel safe, confident that if they report any concerns or worries they will be dealt with.”

Due to a sabbatical, we are seeking an inspirational and dynamic leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher – Director of Standards KS4. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of strategies to raise achievement across Key Stage 4, ensuring every student reaches their full potential. This position offers a unique opportunity to expand your academic and pastoral leadership skills while making a real difference in our school community.

As a Key Member Of The Senior Leadership Team, You Will:

  • Work closely with the Head Of School and Deputy Headteachers to articulate and promote the school’s vision with passion and clarity and support the Headteacher’s strategic leadership
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the school
  • Help to define the school’s aims and objectives and develop policies to achieve them
  • Lead and manage staff and resources effectively to drive school improvement
  • Monitor and evaluate progress towards achieving the school’s goals

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong data analysis skills to identify areas for improvement and monitor progress against targets
  • Be a reflective practitioner with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Possess outstanding leadership and management experience, with a proven track record of raising standards

  • Work collaboratively across academic and pastoral teams, fostering a positive and inclusive culture
