Since 1871, the Royal Albert Hall has welcomed the greatest names in music, dance, entertainment and ideas — from the Suffragettes to Stormzy, Elgar to Einstein, The Beatles to Beyoncé. We are more than a venue; we are a global icon, a charity at the heart of British cultural life, and a home for dreams, determination, contemplation and celebration.
Every year, nearly two million people walk through our doors to witness breathtaking performances — with millions more tuning in online and on screens around the world. Together, we create the amazing.
About the Role
As our Head of Production and Technical, you will lead a large and passionate team of event managers, lighting, sound, AV and stage technicians in delivering over 1,500 unforgettable events a year — from the BBC Proms and Cirque du Soleil, to the Festival of Remembrance and Teenage Cancer Trust concerts.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring seamless live event support, managing venue-wide technology systems, and delivering an exceptional experience for artists, promoters, audiences and broadcast partners alike.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical future of one of the most iconic venues in the world — while honouring its extraordinary legacy.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and motivating a high-performing team across all areas of production and technical delivery.
- Acting as the principal point of contact for promoters and technical teams, ensuring smooth and spectacular events.
- Overseeing the operation, maintenance, and innovation of AV, lighting, and sound systems across the venue.
- Managing complex production schedules and budgets, ensuring both excellence and efficiency.
- Embedding technical excellence and service at the heart of everything we do — from headline acts to community outreach.
About You
You’re a confident leader and communicator with extensive experience in technical or production management in a major venue or live events environment. You bring:
- A deep understanding of live production and technical infrastructure, including sound, lighting, rigging, staging and crewing.
- A collaborative, forward-thinking approach — ready to solve problems and embrace new ideas.
- Excellent management and leadership skills.
- A strong focus on customer and artist experience, with the drive to always go the extra mile.
- The ability to balance tradition with innovation — and lead a team that does the same.
Why the Royal Albert Hall?
We are home to talent, to innovation, to the future. We embrace both the radical and the timeless. As Head of Production and Technical, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to connect people through extraordinary shared experiences — and help us make memories that last a lifetime.
