As an Aircraft Technician Avionics you will keep our aircraft airborne by carrying out maintenance and repair work on the sophisticated electronic and on board avionics.

What will you do?

  • Give the pilot real-time access to comprehensive battle-space information, and the ability to share sensor data, and actionable information
  • Ensure the high performance of aircraft radar, communication, reconnaissance and target acquisition equipment
  • Repair on-board technologies that select, arm and release weapons
  • Maintain the systems that generate and distribute electricity on aircraft
  • Provide engineering support to aircraft systems that are operated whilst in flight, or provide aircraft engineering support when the aircraft is deployed
  • Travel overseas to support RAF aircraft and equipment on operations and exercises

Requirements at a glance

  • Be aged 16 47 years old (Must attest before 48th birthday)
  • As a minimum, you will need GCSE's at grade C/4 or Scottish National 5's at grade C in English Language, Mathematics and an approved Science / Technology based subject.
  • You will need to meet specific Nationality and Residency criteria. Please see full details in the Entry Requirements section below
  • Commit to a minimum 3 years after completion of specialist training
  • Pass the Defence Aptitude Assessment
  • Pass a fitness test
