Permanent position based in Midlands. Salary: £16,676.69 per annum. The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non‑departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with sister sites in London and Midlands. The Museum’s purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future, using its collections and stories of its people to engage, inform and inspire. The Museum is also a Carbon Literate organisation, promoting Carbon Literacy.
The role works closely with the Retail Manager to supervise day‑to‑day retail operations, ensuring consistently high standards of customer care, maximising commercial return from retail activities and supporting all commercial operations to deliver an excellent visitor experience.
Key responsibilities include:- Supervising retail staff and mentoring the team.
- Overseeing EPOS and stock control systems.
- Driving sales and service standards.
- Contributing to the interpretation of the RAF story in retail settings.
- Traveling between the Museum’s sites and attending off‑site events, trade shows and training courses, which may require overnight stays.
- Proven track record in commercial retail sales.
- Experience with EPOS and stock control systems.
- Prior supervisory experience and ability to motivate a team.
- Passion for delivering high‑standard customer service.
Work schedule: 21 hours per week, 7 hours per day on any 3 days out of the 7‑day week, including weekends, bank holidays and early mornings/evenings as necessary.
