For over 100 years, RAF Nurses have lived our motto: \’Nec Aspera Terrent\’ which translates to \’nothing shall deter us\’ / \’not afraid of difficulties\’. Affectionately known as PM\’s, RAF nurses provide the highest possible level of nursing care to our patients wherever and whenever they need our support. We offer an exciting range of opportunities to those looking to join our Cadre in the Registered Nurse role.

We are seeking motivated individuals looking for a new challenge. The individual must hold a current NMC PIN or can apply as a 3rd year nursing student in lieu of their academic qualifications and provision of proof of application for their NMC PIN on graduation from university.

All applicants will be expected to demonstrate aptitude for military service and must undertake a 10-week (if no prior regular Service) or up to 2 weeks (if previously served) basic military training course at RAF Halton in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, before commencement of nursing employment.

Finally, the individual will hold an up-to-date enhanced DBS and be able to demonstrate an appropriate CV and/or employment history with no issues concerning probity or clinical malpractice pending.

As a Royal Air Force registered nurse, you will work in the UK alongside NHS colleagues in secondary care (hospitals, rehabilitation facility) or primary care (military medical centres) to maintain and develop your clinical expertise, alongside completing your Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) training in order to deploy and work in the aviation environment worldwide.

You will also be offered the opportunity to undertake further nursing sub-specialisation in a variety of clinical specialties including but not limited to Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Primary Care, Trauma Orthopaedics, Burns & Reconstructive Surgery, Infection Prevention and Control, Occupational Health, General Surgery and Medicine, up to Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) level.

You will train for and deploy on operations worldwide, with the RAF and/or other military hospital teams, providing high quality healthcare in diverse, challenging and sometimes austure conditions and environments.

On top of a highly competitive salary, through career support and exceptional training, we offer a structured and progressive career path designed to encourage and reward excellence and achievements. The RAF is a strong advocate of CPD, including opportunities for on-going military professional training. There are also opportunities to develop and take on leadership roles in the wider RAF and in Defence.

There are many benefits of a career in the RAF, including 6- weeks of paid holiday each year, free health and dental care, free gym membership, lower rental accommodation costs than the UK average and opportunities for adventurous training.
