Salary: Lecturer (Grade 8: starting at £38,784 progressing to £46,049) or Senior Lecturer (Grade 9: starting at £44,746 progressing to £56,535) per annum. Pro-rata for part-time appointment.
Hours: Part-time (14 to 17.5 hours per week) – 0.4 to 0.5 FTE.

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) has been at the forefront of agricultural education for 180 years and is globally renowned for its links with industry and courses that are designed to meet the demands of the changing land-based sector. As part of its academic portfolio, the RAU offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Land & Property, including our RICS accredited BSc (Hons) Rural Land & Property Management, BSc (Hons) Real Estate, MSc Rural Estate Management, and MSc Real Estate programmes.
The RAU is seeking an experienced Rural Surveyor to join our Land and Property Management team to teach on our Rural Land & Property Management and Real Estate programmes. All our Lecturers are required to articulate subject material in a way that will enable students to demonstrate an understanding of the subject areas through contextualization and critical analysis of case studies and scenarios in the context of their subject area.
A key aspect of the role will be to deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students through lectures, tutorials, seminars, field excursions, and practical exercises, with a focus on innovative approaches to learning and teaching. Bridging the gap between industry and academia is essential for our students, ensuring they are well-prepared for their future careers. We are therefore specifically seeking applicants that have relevant professional experience.
Due to our taught programmes being RICS accredited, applicants would ideally be a Surveyor with MRICS or FRICS, or a member of a similar professional body, enabling teaching to be practice-led and enriched with real-world examples. We encourage applications from individuals considering a part-time role who are currently working in practice or have recently retired and wish to share their knowledge with the next generation of professionals.
This role reports to the Dean of Land and Property Management.
