We are looking for a new web and digital content manager to join the digital communications team. Are you passionate about working on websites? Do you love creating pages which prioritise user experience? This is a role for someone who enjoys creating accessible, search optimised web pages and is driven by web metrics to make continuous improvements. The Digital Communications team oversees the online presence of the Royal Academy of Engineering, from managing the website and social media channels to producing videos and interactives. As web and digital content manager, you will manage, curate and develop content on the Academy website.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, curate and develop content on the Academy website, ensuring digital content is accessible and follows brand guidelines and digital best practice.
  • Develop engaging web pages and content, ensuring relevance to Academy aims and key messages; contribute to increasing the profile of the Academy through online activity.
  • Coordinate requests from multiple teams, shaping internal processes and feeding requests into overall communications plans; showcase activities across the Academy through the website.
  • Act as a brand guardian, ensuring digital editorial consistency and adherence to website templates; optimise for digital users, SEO, and digital analytics.
  • Curate key landing pages and identify opportunities to refresh content.
  • Help keep training materials up-to-date for CMS editors and provide training as needed.
  • Gather website performance metrics, report insights to colleagues, and suggest improvements based on data.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Passion for all things digital with a love of websites; strong commitment to digital accessibility and prioritising user journeys and user experiences.
  • Excellent editorial skills; ability to translate technical copy into engaging web copy while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and ability to manage competing priorities; experience optimising content pages and tracking SEO performance.
  • Experience working in a busy digital communications team; strong communicator with colleagues at all levels and ability to manage stakeholder needs.
  • Organised and collaborative, with willingness to contribute to a small, friendly team and to grow and try new things; training on Umbraco CMS and wider processes will be provided.

Our light, spacious head office is based in central London with views over St James’s Park and close to the West End. We operate hybrid, flexible working practices with a baseline for office-based working of a mandatory weekly team day plus further days each week as required for the role and the Academy.
