Looking for an opportunity to apply your keen news sense and shape perceptions of engineering and technology? We’re hiring a Media Communications Officer to support the Academy’s media and communications activities and tell the story behind how engineers are improving lives and the world around us. You’ll get the chance to work with some of the leading researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and businesspeople across the profession in the UK and beyond.
The role will involve profiling award-winning engineers, promoting programmes to support engineering talent and contributing to the news agenda with independent, expert advice for policymakers. Engineering is at the forefront of driving sustainability, new technologies to serve society and the skills needed for the future – which means that you’ll get to build relationships with a mix of national, regional and trade journalists covering a diverse range of subject areas.
The ideal candidate will have experience in communications either with an agency or in-house, or as a journalist, and an interest in science, technology and business current affairs.

Location and working practices
Our light, spacious head office is based in a fantastic location in central London with views over St James’s Park and close to the West End. We operate hybrid, flexible working practices with a baseline for office based working of a mandatory weekly team day plus further days each week as required for the role and the Academy.
