Are you a dance professional with a passion for youth development and a knack for organisation? The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is looking for a SYNC Company Manager to join our Step into Dance team. In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force behind our Step Youth Companies (SYNC). You will manage the day-to-day operations of the companies, working directly with talented young dancers to ensure they have an enriching, safe, and professional experience. From planning weekly schedules and booking guest artists to managing performances and leading technique sessions, you will be at the heart of our artistic vision.

Step into Dance is a partnership between the RAD and the Jack Petchey Foundation. We are one of the UK’s largest inclusive youth dance programmes, reaching thousands of young people across London and Essex. We believe in the power of dance to empower, build self-confidence, and foster teamwork in dancers of all backgrounds and abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Company Management: Oversee all aspects of SYNC, including recruitment, weekly schedules, and annual auditions.
  • Artistic Support: Deliver the first hour of weekly sessions focusing on technique and conditioning, and act as a bridge between choreographers and dancers.
  • Event Coordination: Work with our Events Manager to secure and manage performance opportunities.
  • Administration: Manage dancer onboarding, communications with parents, fee collection, and attendance records.
  • Budgeting: Monitor project budgets, process invoices, and assist with funding reports and bids for the Jack Petchey Foundation.
  • Safeguarding: Act as a chaperone and ensure all activities adhere to strict health, safety, and safeguarding regulations.
Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with a strong background in dance and experience working with young people. You should have:

  • Experience in arts administration or company management.
  • The ability to lead dance technique/conditioning sessions.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with parents and guest artists.
Contract & Working Hours

This is a part-time position working 14 hours per week. Because our dancers are at the centre of what we do, this role requires the post holder to be consistently onsite at RAD HQ on Sundays during term time. The role is offered on a fixed term contract ending on 31 July 2027, with a review at the end of this period based on funding and project status. Due to the nature of the performance calendar, a degree of flexibility is required to work occasional evenings and weekends to support rehearsals and events.

Why work for us?

We offer 25 days paid holiday (pro rata) plus bank holidays and a birthday day off, contributory pension scheme, access to the Perkbox discounts platform – including an Employee Assistance Programme, WeCare scheme, health cash plan, and life assurance.

Due to the nature of the RAD’s work, the successful candidate will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. We encourage and welcome applications from people with a disability, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people from the LGBTQIA+ community. Please let us know if you have any access needs for the interview. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and bring relevant documents if invited to attend an interview. We are unable to sponsor people under the Skilled Worker scheme.
