About the Role
The Royal Academy of Arts is currently seeking a Young People’s Programmer to join our Learning & Public Programmes team, on fixed term contract for 6 months.
The Young People’s Programmer will be responsible for planning and delivering a programme of creative learning activities for young people (15 -25 yr olds), ensuring that the programmes, projects and resources reflect the RA as a welcoming place for young people to explore new ideas, develop their creative skills and gain deeper knowledge of further education and career opportunities in the creative sector.
This role will also work to support the Learning Programme Manager in delivering student focused initiatives, like the Young Artists’ Summer Show, that include young people.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have experience of delivering inclusive creative learning events for young people and a commitment to engaging diverse audiences in learning about art.
You will have a confident knowledge of the visual arts, and will bring to the role, excellent project management, planning and scheduling skills and experience briefing creative professionals.
As well as being a clear an adaptable communicator, you will also be able to build effective relationships and work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
On occasions, this role will be required to work evening and weekends, in particular Saturdays and Friday nights.
The Company
The RA dates way back to 1768 when a group of artists and architects persuaded King George lll to help them to ‘establish a society for promoting the Art of Design'. The original academy, in Pall Mall, was less than 10 meters long. Since then, there have been many changes, though the RA’s core purpose of bringing art and design to a broad audience and championing art and artists still holds true.
