The role and what are we looking for?
Having just launched 3 new SaaS products during 2025, we are in a stage of rapid growth. With this growth comes the need to expand our financial operations. We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our finance team, working across the full accounting cycle, from processing invoices to assisting with reporting. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to build valuable skills and experience that will help grow your career in finance. Reporting to, and working closely with the Financial Controller, this broad role will expose you to many areas of Finance and offers the opportunity to get involved in the scale-up of processes, and automation of systems and reporting. An organised team player, you will be adaptable to change with an eye for detail and process. As a key support function within the business, the finance team aims to add value not only to our clients but also to our internal teams from Sales through the account managers and other supporting departments.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Accounts Receivable:
- Process customer sales orders and create invoices.
- Work with the Sales team and RevOps to ensure accuracy of sales data.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of all receivables and payments.
- Accounts Payable:
- Process incoming supplier invoices and ensure that all payments are made on time.
- Reconcile supplier statements to ensure all invoices are accounted for.
- Maintain and update supplier contact details and payment terms.
- Manage expenses for the organization.
- Bank Reconciliations:
- Reconcile bank accounts and ensure that transactions are recorded correctly.
- Investigate any discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records.
- Prepare reports for the Financial Controller regarding bank transactions and balances.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the general ledger.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Review transactions monthly to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure that financial records are accurate and up-to-date for reporting purposes.
- Audit Preparation:
- Assist with the audit process as required.
- Data Entry and Filing:
- Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Organise and maintain financial documents and records, both physical and digital.
- Other Administrative Support:
- Support to the finance team, including managing correspondence and maintaining finance-related files.
- Assist with any ad-hoc tasks as requested by the finance team.
What are we looking for?
Educational Qualifications:
- A degree/background in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
- Professional certifications in bookkeeping or accounting. Ideally qualified or part-qualified in ACCA or CIMA but AAT also considered
- Support to full qualification will be provided
Experience:
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Xero accounting software is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Familiarity with SaaS business models and invoicing systems such as Maxio or Subscript is an advantage.
Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Familiarity with VAT
