Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 1000 staff. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster.
OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting into the Maintenance & Calibration Manager, the successful candidate will use both mechanical and electrical engineering skills / knowledge to maintain and enhance the performance of plant and equipment. Provide first class, flexible support to production requirements and factory services at all times by means of the application of electrical/mechanical skills in fault-finding/diagnostics, planned preventative maintenance practices and electrical/mechanical installation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with SHE and all statutory Safety, Health and Environment requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely records are entered / recorded of all work carried out, root causes of failures and of spares / consumables used.
- Ensure maintenance engineering downtime is accurately logged, monitor repair times, and find new methods / procedures to reduce these utilising our CMMS (computerised maintenance management system).
- Work as part of the maintenance team to ensure a safe and efficient production performance is delivered.
- Perform detailed preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with schedules.
- Fault diagnosis and rectification on all plant and equipment within the manufacturing facility.
- Identify the root cause of asset faults, improving asset performance and reliability to meet operational objectives.
- Provide a fast and efficient response time to any plant breakdowns that occur, whilst ensuring all company procedures and standards are adhered to.
- Work and train new apprentices in a maintenance discipline.
EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND
Qualifications:
- Essential Qualifications
- Recognised electrical and mechanical qualifications
- Recognised time-served Mechatronics apprenticeship with NVQ L3 or equivalent in an engineering maintenance discipline.
- Desirable Qualifications
- 18th Edition BS7671 Certification
- 2391/52 inspection and testing qualified
- PLC Programming and fault finding
Experience:
- Essential Experience
- Microsoft Office and CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
- Proven maintenance engineering professional with high standards of electrical and mechanical understanding and competencies.
- Fault diagnosis and rectification processes and planned and corrective maintenance activities gained from within a similar role as part of an industrial maintenance team.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Ability to work to find root cause of failure in reactive maintenance scenarios and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Desirable Experience
- Knowledge and understanding of health and safety processes.
- Knowledge of quality operating systems procedures and deliverables.
- Understanding of environmental controls and practices.
