ROXEL (UK ROCKET MOTORS) LIMITED Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 700 staff. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE The Inventory and Logistics Team Leader is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of inventory management, logistics, and warehouse functions across the site. This role involves managing the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of materials, ensuring accurate inventory records, and maintaining a high standard of health, safety, and environmental compliance. The Team Leader will lead a team dedicated to achieving operational success, ensuring productivity targets are met, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In addition to logistics management, the role includes acting as the Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA), ensuring the safe and compliant transportation of hazardous materials. The Team Leader will also be responsible for maintaining the site’s storage facilities, performing regular audits and perpetual inventory counts, and overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse team. A key focus of the role is driving adherence to Lean manufacturing principles, 6S methodology, and optimizing processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste. This position demands a strong leader who can motivate and manage a diverse team, uphold rigorous safety standards, and work cross-functionally with other departments to support the overall supply chain process. The Team Leader will also ensure that all operational procedures align with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, while providing continuous training and development opportunities for team members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES Uphold a \”zero harm\” approach by adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, ensuring the wellbeing of staff and visitors. Lead Risk and COSHH assessments, working closely with Cell Management to ensure compliance and safety. Oversee the management of multiple energetic and inert storage facilities across the site. Supervise and report on all logistics/warehouse activities, ensuring optimal productivity. Control site storage facilities by coordinating the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in the ERP system (Tropos). Perform regular audits to verify the accuracy of orders, invoices, received items, inventory, and deliveries. Conduct Perpetual Inventory (PI) counts and support stock checks to maintain precise inventory records. Act as the site’s Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA), ensuring compliance with dangerous goods regulations: Assess transportation risks and take measures to mitigate them. Report incidents or accidents involving dangerous goods to the Department for Transport. Monitor compliance with legal carriage requirements and provide advice on safe transport. Investigate accidents or regulatory infringements, keeping detailed records. Ensure proper staff training and complete annual audit reports. Report and follow-up on any maintenance issues, ensuring compliance with main standards. Conduct daily inspections of logistics and warehouse facilities. Coordinate the maintenance and operation of department vehicles and equipment. Lead daily Level 1 QRQC and SQCDPI meetings. Drive continuous improvement by developing logistics processes and procedures, identifying root causes of concerns, and implementing corrective actions. Build and nurture relationships with other departments, attending meetings as needed. Contribute to the development of the supply chain process, ensuring it aligns with business requirements. Promote adherence to 6S methodology through training and coaching, ensuring a clean and organised work environment. People Management: Supervise the logistics team, clearly defining expectations to maximize efficiency and meet targets. Motivate the team through coaching, feedback, and support. Conduct Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) for team members. Monitor team attendance, conducting Return to Work interviews and supporting absence reviews. Authorise holiday requests, ensuring adequate staffing levels. Address performance issues through informal counselling and support disciplinary investigations when necessary. Identify and address training needs, facilitating development in line with skill matrices and business requirements. Lead by example to ensure high standards and expected behaviours are understood and maintained by the team. Review and update company records, including training matrices, performance reviews, and risk assessments. Report on target achievements and take action when necessary. Ensure operations comply with health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring the safety of all personnel. Provide technical expertise and support to the team. Essential Experience & Qualifications: Qualifications: Essential: GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 9 to 4 or equivalent) Forklift Truck License (preferably counterbalance) Desirable: Level 3 ILM Qualification or willingness to pursue IOSH Managing Safely Qualification or willingness to pursue Lean Manufacturing Techniques (Yellow Belt or equivalent) Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) Qualification or willingness to pursue Experience: Essential: Proven experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. Strong background in managing a team effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP/MRP systems (Tropos or similar). Desirable: Experience managing in a Lean Culture (e.g., Kaizen, Kanban, 7 waste principles, SQCDPI techniques). Experience with Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments. Familiarity with EN9100 or other Quality Management Systems. Person Specification: Excellent time management skills. Ability to delegate and empower team members effectively.
