Roxel is currently experiencing a period of rapid growth that includes the designing of new processes and equipment. This includes the transfer of current manufacturing processes to newly built facilities and the maintenance of ongoing risk controls.
A requirement for a Process Safety Advisor has been identified to contribute towards ensuring COMAH compliance for business improvement activities, primarily the Future Factory project, as well as improvements to existing legacy processes. The role will sit within the Process Safety team, with a direct reporting line to the Process Safety Manager. Specific training, both internal and external, will be given as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead and manage process safety aspects of new business improvement and development projects, with particular focus on the processing of energetic materials.
- Provide specialist knowledge and advice to other members of the business with respect to the Explosive Regulations and the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations.
- Ensure Management of Change is completed in accordance with company processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and interface with suppliers to ensure safety measures align with project objectives.
- Contribute towards the development of, and implementation of, process safety management systems, ensuring compliance with UK Regulations and recognised industry best practice.
- Participate in and coordinate safety reviews, hazard and operability studies, layers of protection analyses etc.
- Development of Explosive Licence applications in compliance to the Explosive Regulations 2014 for submission to HSE.
- Develop the COMAH Basis of Safety reports as required for processes affected by the Future Factory Project.
- Working in conjunction with the Production Engineering teams to provide Hazardous Area Classification.
- Provide support to investigations of near misses and incidents.
- Develop as a lead on Human Factors Safety Critical task analyses and development of Human Factors integration plans into new projects.
- Essential Qualifications: Higher level qualification in science or engineering subject, such as HNC/HND.
- Desirable Qualifications: Degree level qualification in a science or engineering subject; Process Safety Qualification such as NEBOSH Certificate or willing to work towards.
- Essential Experience: Experience in working in hazardous or chemical industry (preferably explosives manufacturing); Understanding of Process Hazard Analysis techniques (HAZOP, PFMEA, LOPA, etc.).
- Desirable Experience: Experience of safety engineering in Upper Tier COMAH sites; Strong background and experience in safety engineering; Knowledge of explosives licensing; Experience and knowledge of the Explosive Regulations 2014 (HSE Publication L150).
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal.
