Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £130M and nearly 1000 staff.
About the Role - Maintenance Controls Engineer Reporting to the Maintenance & calibration Manager. Provide first class, flexible support to production requirements and factory services at all times by means of the application of electrical and control/PLC skills in fault-finding/diagnostics, planned preventative maintenance practices and electrical installation.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with SHE and all statutory Safety, Health and Environment requirements.
- Ensuring reliability of onsite Programmable Logical Control Systems.
- Ensure maintenance engineering downtime is accurately logged, monitor repair times, and find new methods / procedures to reduce these utilising our CMMS (computerised maintenance management system).
- Work as part of the maintenance team to ensure a safe and efficient production performance is delivered.
- Perform detailed preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with schedules.
- Fault diagnosis and rectification on all plant and equipment within the manufacturing facility.
- Identify the root cause of asset faults, improving asset performance and reliability to meet operational objectives.
- Provide a fast and efficient response time to any plant breakdowns that occur, whilst ensuring all company procedures and standards are adhered to.
- Work and train new apprentices in a maintenance discipline.
Qualifications:
- Recognised electrical qualifications.
Required Skills:
- Experience of Working with PLC’s (Siemens S7, S5, Mitsubishi, ABB and Eurotherm).
- A Strong PLC programming interrogation background.
- A proven maintenance engineering professional with high standards of electrical and mechanical understanding and competencies.
- Ability to work to find root cause of failure in reactive maintenance scenarios, and implement permanent corrective actions.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and CMMS (computerised Maintenance management system).
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of health and safety processes.
- Knowledge of Quality Operating Systems procedures and deliverables.
- Understanding of environmental controls and practices.
- 18th Edition BS7671 certificated & 2391/52 inspection and testing qualified.
