Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £250M and nearly 1000 staff, with 300 in the UK. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster where we now have a requirement for a Quality Inspector.

The purpose of this role is to assure the quality of products throughout the product lifecycle with Roxel UK. This role will support the product lifecycle quality assurance through the complete production process, taking responsibility for ensuring that processes and procedures are in place and adhered to in relation to product quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for carrying out inspections of parts and assemblies to drawing and process requirements – Across site on any project
  • Spot-checking of operators to confirm operator compliance to MMs
  • Raise non-conformance forms and support investigations into technical issues as required
  • Inspect / approve rework
  • Manage own workload, liaising with the relevant cell leaders to identify and complete inspections in a timely manner
  • Generate, collate, update and maintain and complete FAIR using Visual Fair as requested
  • Creation and Management of CMM Programs, Probes and Software updates
  • Problem solve CMM errors, issues, collisions
  • Operate CMM machines in line with business needs
  • Conduct manual inspections using hand tools (micrometres, height gauges, shadowgraph) to verify that parts and assemblies meet required specifications
  • Create inspection methods for underdefined or non-standard inspections
  • Conduct Audits where requested i.e. Flash, Internal, supplier
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Production Engineering and Design Authority to improve processes when required

Experience and Background:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Apprenticeship level or equivalent in an engineering discipline

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Internal auditor AS/EN9100 trained

Essential Experience:

  • Quality inspection within a manufacturing/engineering industry
  • FAIR generation and collation
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T/engineering drawings
  • Problem solving skills

Desirable Experience:

  • CMM operation/programming
  • Experience of using root cause analysis tools (8Ds, 5 Whys etc)
