Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £250M and nearly 1000 staff, with 300 in the UK. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster where we now have a requirement for a Goods Inwards Inspector on a 12-month fixed term contract.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Quality Manager, this role is responsible for supporting Roxel’s supplier performance and capability. This role ensures suppliers meet operational, quality, and commercial standards and supports the identification, assessment, and onboarding of suppliers aligned with Roxel’s strategic objectives. The role will require involvement with key stakeholders in the Operational, Procurement and Quality areas as well as the Supply Chain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Ensure all goods received from Suppliers fully meet purchase order, contractual and quality requirements.
- Verify Inspect and formally accept procured products in line with approved standards and conditions.
- Read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings, including dimensional tolerances including GD&T, critical dimensions and any surface finish requirements.
- Inspect components for surface finish, damage, paint defects.
- Produce, maintain update accurate inspection and quality documentation.
- Validate all delivery paperwork ensuring full traceability and compliance.
- Meet agreed inspection turnaround times to support manufacturing schedules.
- Identify, segregate and control non conforming material, raising and maintaining NCF’s, ensuring ERP system is updated live with any fallout.
- Ensure all measuring equipment is maintained and calibrated in accordance with the company’s internal procedures.
- Adhere to all instructional and Health and Safety guidelines for the use of equipment in order to maintain a safe work environment.
- Additional duties or tasks as requested by the business.
- Essential Qualifications: 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including English and Maths.
- Desirable Qualifications: AONC/HNC in an Engineering discipline.
- Essential Experience: Significant proven experience within a Quality Inspection role within a Manufacturing and/or Engineering organisation. Experience of reading and understanding 2D drawings including GD&T dims plus Critical dimensions. Able to demonstrate extensive experience with manual inspection and measuring equipment. Experience of using Root Cause Analysis Tools (8Ds, 5 Whys etc). Computer Literate with use of MS Word / Excel plus use of MRP / ERP systems.
- Desirable Experience: Manufacturing and Engineering background, Defence industry manufacturing, Experience of working within an AS/ENS9100 Aerospace Quality Management System. CNC Machining, Cable Harnesses, Rubber Products, Energetics, Paint and Plating, Forgings, Heat Treatment.
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills and to be able to communicate to line leader.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ideally candidates will come from an Engineering/Manufacturing background.
- Team work across various departments when needed.
