Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 700 staff, with 200 in the UK.
The Commercial & Bid Manager is the key focus responsible for all contract and commercial agreements between Roxel UK and its customers. The Commercial Manager’s responsibility is to ensure that the highest professional standards of commercial practice are maintained on behalf of Roxel. The Commercial Manager is responsible for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders and customers during the generation of bids and agreeing contracts.
Responsibilities:- Responsibility for the creation and management of bids and commercial contracts in a robust and timely manner, ensuring commercial risks to Roxel UK are transparent, minimised and/or mitigated where possible.
- Negotiation of Terms and Conditions, Non-Disclosure Agreements and other contracting arrangements with customers covering the supply of products and services. Certifying that bids to customers are underpinned by robust and valid supplier quotations and in accordance with governance practices.
- Manages interfaces with internal stakeholders and customers throughout the defined winning business process from strategic reviews and the generation of bids through to contract acceptance.
- Updates and maintains all legal terms and conditions and standards relating to contracts.
- Ensures compliance with company processes and policy for Procurement, Statutory Legal Obligations, Ethical Standards and corporate governance relating to international trading legislation and controls associated with materials and products.
- Supports customers in understanding our proposals, payment plans, milestones, liaising with bid project managers and the management of risk registers as appropriate.
- Good working knowledge of MoD contracting methods and processes.
- Acts as Industry and legislative expert and attends appropriate training courses, conferences and associated events to ensure an up to date knowledge of commercial and legal practices.
- Provides interface with the external legal advisor.
- Generates and maintain 5-10 year business plan forecasts and contribute to future growth strategy.
- Takes responsibility for Health and Safety in Roxel UK.
- Additional duties or tasks as requested by business requirements.
- Qualifications:
- Essential Qualifications: Relevant degree or equivalent with associated experience.
- Desirable Qualifications: Professional membership of relevant institute.
- Experience:
- Essential Experience: Minimum of 5 years in commercial/bid team environment generating commercial offers for customers.
- Desirable Experience: Experience of bids and commercial management in Defence, Automotive or Manufacturing Engineering environment.
- Motivated and driven to deliver results according to defined timescales and expected standards.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the business.
