The Role

A specialty chemicals business is looking for an Analytical Chemistry Lead to manage their laboratory operations. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you’ll lead a small team, ensure ISO9001 compliance, and deliver high-quality analytical support to production and R&D.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day Analytical laboratory operations and prioritise workload
  • Mentor and develop QC Analysts
  • Perform and oversee analysis (GC, HPLC, FTIR, KF, titrations)
  • Review data, ensure accuracy, and maintain ERP records
  • Develop and validate analytical methods
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment
  • Support audits, CAPA, and continuous improvement

About You

  • Degree in Chemistry (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong hands-on analytical experience (GC, HPLC, FTIR, KF)
  • Experience in analytical troubleshooting
  • Background in manufacturing (chemicals/pharma preferred)
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and QC systems
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
