Are you a Veterinary Surgeon looking for a new role? Our Thornbury practice is not your standard GP practice. We are fully equipped with ultrasound, digital X-ray imaging, and dental facilities, allowing us to manage a wide range of cases in-house. The practice undertakes general surgery to a high level and will refer very little from a normal general practice workload. Often those cases referred to our team are managed within the Rowe Referrals Hospital, where you can follow your case through.

You will work alongside a team of 3 vets, some of whom hold or are working towards advanced practitioner status, supported by clinical and non-clinical nurses and care assistants. You will also join a larger Rowe team with over 40 first opinion vets, 10 referral vets and a significant workforce spanning our 7 sites.

Rowe Thornbury are looking for an experienced, caring and clinically passionate veterinary professional to join the team to continue the excellent patient care we provide for sick pets. You will be confident with both surgery and medicine cases. We know that flexibility is key, and we want it to work for the right candidate, so if you have specific needs, please contact us to explore how something flexible could work for you. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Our full-time roles operate on a 4-day-a-week rota with a current commitment to work at our ECC hospital alongside two other vets, managing our inpatients and emergency for our group as well as several other local veterinary practices. This gives you the opportunity to see non-routine cases and gain valuable exposure to ECC medicine. Weekend hours are 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM on a current 1:9 weekend commitment. The 4-day week includes an early finish by 4:30 PM once a week, with other days from 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM.

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:

  • Work-life balance
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave
  • Your birthday as a paid day off
  • Wellbeing
  • Private medical insurance
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies, including maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Initiatives focused on employee wellbeing
  • Non-accidental injury support
  • Development £1250 CPD allowance with 40 hours paid pro rata
  • Certificate support
  • Learning and development opportunities via the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Access to Vetlexicon – our online encyclopaedia provider
