Rowde Church of England Primary Academy is looking to appoint a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its friendly team and provide support to pupils, including those with additional needs. Applications are welcome from Teaching Assistants looking to further their career as well as those HLTAs aspiring for future teacher training.
Working Hours: Full-time (30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 39 weeks, includes Teacher training days). Required: September 2026. Appointment subject to confirmation of vacancy.
We are a welcoming and caring school, educating children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. Located in the charming village of Rowde, Wiltshire, we have close links with the local parish and wider community. As a HLTA, you must be able to work across all age ranges within our school and be prepared to work flexibly to support children of all abilities, including those requiring SEN support, liaising with teachers and SENCO. With experience in planning and delivering whole class teaching, the role will require successful candidates to provide staff cover and PPA for teachers so an understanding and awareness of the Primary curriculum is desirable.
We are looking for someone who:

- Is able to work effectively within our team on whole school issues;
- Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
- Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
- Enjoys working with children and can develop good working relationships with them;
- Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
- Can be a strong team player as well as use their own initiative;
- Has a positive and flexible attitude;
- Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young children;
- Has experience of supporting children’s learning;
- Has experience in planning and delivering whole class teaching;
- Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training;
- Has a particular subject strength within the primary curriculum;
- Has experience of / is willing to learn about the Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum;
- Holds a relevant HLTA qualification or degree level qualification (desirable);
- Is willing to provide regular staff cover and PPA for teachers as a HLTA.
