We are opening a new Rowcroft shop at Kings Ash Way in Paignton, next to Lidl, and we are looking for a supportive and collaborative Deputy Manager who wants to play their part in bringing this brand-new shop to life!

Our shops sit at the heart of their communities. They offer a warm welcome, a great shopping experience and an important way for local people to support Rowcroft. Every sale, donation and conversation helps us raise vital funds for people living with life-limiting illnesses and those closest to them across South Devon.

This is an opportunity to shape a new shop from the outset, supporting the Shop Manager to build a strong team of volunteers and create a place that customers want to visit again and again.

The role

You’ll help create an exceptional retail experience and a thriving, smooth-running operation that reinforces Rowcroft’s reputation in the local community, while playing an integral role in deputising for the Shop Manager. You’ll work with a team of committed volunteers, supported by the Shop Manager and our experienced central team, to create a friendly and welcoming environment and ensure we maximise our income on our donated and new goods.

You don’t need to know everything from day one. We’ll provide full support, training and guidance, so you can grow in confidence and feel fully equipped to succeed. What matters most is your positive attitude, the ability to work well with people and your enthusiasm for helping our shops thrive. If you enjoy meeting people, love retail, want a retail role with purpose, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

What you will bring

  • A positive, solutions-focused approach, with the energy to make things happen.
  • A real passion for retail — from customer experience to commercial results.
  • Confidence in driving sales and delivering consistently excellent service.
  • The ability to motivate and support and build effective relationships with a diverse team of volunteers.
  • Alignment with Rowcroft’s values: Honesty & Integrity, Generosity of Spirit, Respect and Team Player.

What is in it for you?

You will have clear expectations and the freedom to use your judgement, try new ideas and identify opportunities to grow sales. We will provide the support, training and guidance you need to succeed. You will also be part of a caring, inclusive and welcoming organisation where people work together with passion and pride.

The role can be busy and demanding – this is charity retail - we are honest about that. In return, you will see the purpose and impact of your work, feel recognised for your contribution and be part of something remarkable.
