RWDI is seeking a Monitoring Systems Technician (internal title Environmental Technician) to join our Equipment team based from our London office. After Health, Safety and Technical training, the Technician will fulfill a role requiring them to work as part of a team with an even split between site work and office-based duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Remote health checks of monitors via WEB platforms;
- Preparation, and bench testing of attended and unattended noise, vibration and air quality monitoring systems;
- Installation, planned maintenance and decommissioning of external unattended monitoring systems;
- Ad-hoc site investigations to diagnose and remedy equipment faults;
- Upkeep of site records and databases;
- Consulting with Equipment Suppliers by phone and email for equipment maintenance and calibration;
- Remote download, processing, and assessment of environmental monitoring data;
- Preparation of weekly and monthly environmental monitoring reports;
- Provision of general support to the in-house team of consultants.
Comprehensive training will also be provided, where required, for attended monitoring at sites where primary activities need to be observed and sample measurements of specific and environmental sources need to be obtained.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
- Grade 6+ or higher in GCSE Maths, English and Science;
- Knowledge and experience of environmental monitoring an advantage;
- Clean full driving licence.
Candidates should also possess:
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Good numeracy and IT skills with an understanding of general computer software packages inc. Microsoft Office;
- Good problem solving and practical skills;
- Ability to work outdoors throughout the year;
- Good customer service skills and commercial awareness;
- Enthusiastic, conscientious, reliable and punctual;
- Self-motivated, organised with a strong work ethic and attention to detail;
- Interest in technology and how things work;
- Desire to consistently improve and develop;
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
The following Qualifications and Experience would be beneficial:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Acoustical, Civil, Architectural Acoustics Engineering or Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Advanced level Microsoft Excel and Word capabilities.
- Intermediate level user of SoundPLAN, CadnaA, NoiseMap, Odeon and Insul or similar software.
- Intermediate level user of AutoCAD and reading Engineering Drawings.
- Intermediate level user of ArcGIS, QGIS or similar GIS package.
