This role is approved for Sponsorship and provides relocation assistance to Barcelona. This role is permanent/full-time and hybrid (Mondays & Thursdays in our office in Poblenou in Barcelona.
Meet the Team
We are the Client Platform team. We help teams at Rover build high quality experiences fast by focusing on the underlying tools and frameworks. As a Platform team, we build out the fundamental tech that powers the internals of Rover.com and the mobile apps. We empower developers to be able to focus more on building great experiences than fighting their tech.
We are the native-app experts complementing a web/React Native focus. This role is based in our office in Barcelona and will work virtually alongside other team members based in Seattle, WA in the US.
This Role
We are looking for a senior level engineer with a primarily web development background who is excited to work both on Web React and React Native. As a senior engineer on our team, you will:
- Solve complex technical problems at the fundamentals of our web and React Native clients.
- Set technical standards across Rover, evangelize and educate on those standards.
- Build hybrid-first code that works across both web and React Native.
- Help set the technical roadmap and vision for the team.
- Work with other engineers in Barcelona to mentor them and answer questions on Client Platform topics.
- Mentor and coach more junior engineers.
We have other team members who are native-app experts and primarily handle needs on that side. You will complement them with a web and React Native focus.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for a senior level engineer, with a rich background of solving complex web and React Native issues. You may not have all of these, but some of the things you will bring are:
- 7+ years as a professional software developer
- Expertise with JavaScript frameworks (especially React) and component-driven design
- Experience in React Native development
- Expertise in multiple parts of our tech stack (see above)
- Experience building reusable frontend design libraries
- Experience handling large-scale technology upgrades across a broad range of a codebase
- An excitement for defining technical standards that make sense for the organization
- Experience coaching more junior developers
- Rigor in automated testing, code quality, and engineering standard methodologies
- A focus on observability and the ability to ship code with effective monitoring and logging
- Judgment to know when to ship and when to polish
