We are looking for a Domestic Assistant to work as part of the care team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the home, following cleaning schedules, laundry, and infection control policies and procedures.
- General Domestic Duties
- Support residents and keep the home environment clean and hygienic.
- Work collaboratively with all sections of the Home as required.
- Familiarize yourself with and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Comply with Health and Safety, fire, and other statutory regulatory requirements.
- Apply the National Care Standards to daily practices.
- Encourage residents' independence and respect their rights.
- Represent the Home positively.
- Report incidents, accidents, concerns, or complaints to the Home Manager or senior staff immediately.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding residents' personal affairs and the business/affairs of the company.
- Handle personal records in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
- Laundry Duties
- Sort laundry into relevant groups and process through washer, drier, and iron stages.
- Keep clean and dirty linen separate.
- Launder items following infection control policies and procedures.
- Return residents' personal items to their rooms in an organized manner.
- Collect soiled linen and deliver fresh linen daily.
- Report damaged linen or clothing to the Home Manager.
- Name unmarked clothes and store appropriately after laundering.
- Domestic Maintenance
- Maintain equipment, ensuring it is clean and functional; report faults or damages.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the home.
- Participate in training as identified in your personal development plan.
- Health and Safety
- Keep the laundry room clean and tidy; wash down equipment and mop floors daily.
- Use protective clothing when handling soiled or infected linen.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met in the laundry area.
- Report any infectious illnesses or accidents immediately.
Working Hours: Shift patterns are 7.30am – 3pm or 11am – 7pm, with 3 or 4 shifts per week.
