We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated carer to join our team at Cumbernauld Care Home. You will play a vital role in assisting residents with daily activities, providing personal care, and ensuring their safety and well-being, with a strong understanding of the individual needs and preferences of our residents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Personal Care: assisting residents with daily personal hygiene, including washing, dressing, and toileting, support mobility and transfers (using mobility aids and hoists), assist with continence care and ensuring residents always maintain dignity.
- Health and wellbeing: observe and report any changes in residents' physical and emotional health, and elevate concerns appropriately.
- Nutrition and hydration: support residents with eating and drinking, ensuring dietary needs are met, encouraging hydration, monitoring food intake, and assist in preparing light meals or snacks when required.
- Emotional & Social wellbeing support: invest time in getting to know the individual residents, providing companionship, engaging in conversations to promote well-being, encouraging participation in social activities, hobbies, and inspiring residents to set personal goals.
- Environmental & Housekeeping support: ensure residents’ rooms and communal areas are clean, tidy, and comfortable; assist with laundry and light housekeeping duties if needed while following infection control procedures and health and safety guidelines.
- Teamwork: contribute to the safe running of the home by collaborating with other carers, nurses and managers.
- Collaboration: work collaboratively with other carers, nurses and managers to provide the highest standard of care.
- Communication & Documentation: proactively communicate with the care team, maintain accurate records of all aspects of care provided, promptly report concerns about residents' health or safety, and provide support to family members and external healthcare professionals as needed.
- Safeguarding & Compliance: ensure all care is delivered in line with safeguarding policies and procedures, treating residents with dignity, respect, and choice at all times and adhering to all care home policies, regulations and professional standards.
- Professional Development: attend required training, maintain confidentiality and uphold professional care standards.
- Experience & knowledge: Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting of a minimum of 1 year. Ability to follow care plans and maintain accurate records of care provided. Comfortable working with technology and willing to learn to use platforms such as Person-Centred Software. Knowledge of and compliance with regulatory requirements for quality and safety, meeting CQC standards and a commitment to maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
- Teamwork and behaviour: A calm and inquisitive nature with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of our residents, including treating everyone we support in line with our values-driven culture. Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team. Willingness to undergo training and professional development and maintain training compliance in line with home compliance requirements.
- Experience & rights to work: Right to work in the UK. A current clear DBS and willingness to undertake a new one for this role.
