As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating new project opportunities. This is a new business-focused role. You will identify, target and engage with contractors, developers, and clients to secure a consistent pipeline of opportunities across our core sectors. You will not be inheriting a large account base. Your primary responsibility is to get in front of the right people, uncover opportunities, and bring work into the business. This role suits someone with an existing network who is motivated by performance and the opportunity to earn through results.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business (Primary Focus)
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities across target sectors (public sector, commercial, housing, care, education and hospitality)
- Build relationships with main contractors, developers, and key client-side decision makers
- Proactively seek early visibility of upcoming projects
- Generate and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Get onto tender lists and into early-stage project conversations
- Maintain consistent outreach through networking, meetings and industry engagement
- Opportunity Conversion Support
- Work with internal teams to support tender submissions and proposals
- Ensure smooth handover of opportunities into estimating and delivery teams
- Stay informed on project activity, market trends and competitor positioning
- Share insights that help refine targeting and sector focus
- Reporting
- Track pipeline activity, opportunities and conversion
- Report regularly on progress against targets
About You
We are looking for someone who understands how work is won in construction and can bring opportunities into the business.
- Experience in a business development or sales role within the construction industry
- A relevant network within contractors, developers, or client organisations
- Proven ability to generate new opportunities, not just manage existing accounts
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of how construction projects are procured
- Confident communicator, comfortable building relationships at all levels
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong focus on results
- You may already have relationships within specific sectors or regions, but equally important is your ability to build new ones quickly.
