Job Title: Bakery Assistant
Location: Chapelhall, Airdrie
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 2pm-9pm (40 hours per week)
Salary: £12.21 per hour (reviewed based on experience – previous bakery experience preferred)
Bon Bon Bakery, a well-loved, family-run bakery in Chapelhall, Airdrie, is looking for a Bakery Assistant to support our skilled baking team. This role is ideal for someone with previous bakery or food production experience who enjoys working early mornings and being part of a hardworking, friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist bakers with preparation of goods including weighing ingredients, prepping trays, and setting up workstations
Help with finishing, glazing, icing, and decorating products as required
Package baked goods and prepare items for shop display or wholesale orders
Maintain a clean and organised bakery environment
Ensure all food hygiene and safety procedures are followed
Perform general cleaning duties, wash trays and utensils, and manage waste as part of the team
Requirements:
Previous experience in a bakery, food prep, or similar role is preferred
Comfortable with backshifts – starts 2pm but will be moving to dayshift when confectioner starts
Reliable, hardworking, and a fast learner
Good team player who can also work independently
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
What We Offer:
Starting rate of £12.21 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
Consistent early shift pattern – finished by lunchtime
