Purpose of role
To learn, understand and execute the tasks involved in maturing and processing spirit. To work with the team to safely achieve the daily work schedule in order to meet production plans and customer service objectives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the end-to-end role of a Warehouse Operator, gaining hands-on experience across all core warehousing activities.
  • Safely and efficiently stow and de-stow casks, including putting casks away into racking systems and removing casks from racks in line with procedures.
  • Operate forklifts and specialist warehouse equipment including cage machines, grabbers, and kickers, following training and authorisation.
  • Work safely at height within racking systems, including stowing and de-stowing casks up to 13 levels high.
  • Correctly load and unload racking systems, ensuring casks are positioned securely and with bungs facing upwards in line with site standards.
  • Dump and fill casks with spirit accurately and safely, complying with quality, safety, and HMRC requirements.
  • Handle and store flammable liquids in accordance with company policies and COMAH/DSEAR regulations.
  • Load and unload internal and external HGVs, including movements of both empty and full casks.
  • Relocate pallets and casks as required, ensuring safe manual and mechanical handling techniques are applied at all times.
  • Carry out stocktaking activities, accurately recording stock movements and locations.
  • Use barcode scanners and tablets for day-to-day warehouse tasks, including barcoding casks and updating stock systems.
  • Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures to complete daily warehouse tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Support customer demand by selecting, preparing, and supplying cask samples as required.
  • Maintain high site safety standards at all times, ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation and Company policies.
  • Take ownership of personal and professional development, working towards apprenticeship completion, performance objectives, and future career goals.

Working Conditions
Based on site at Airdrie, this role will be 37 hours 5 day working week. Formal modern apprentice training will be provided by external trainer. Practical training will be provided on site. Required to work additional hours as necessitated by the needs of the business. Involves working in external conditions with exposure to extremes of weather.

Personal Profile
Nat 4/5 qualifications in English & Maths is required. PC Literate. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work well within a team. Full Driving Licence desirable but not essential.
