We are looking for a Metal Sorter for a busy scrap metal merchants based in Rutherglen Glasgow. Job includes heavy lifting, physical and outdoor work.
As a Metal Sorter you will be integral to the efficient sorting and processing of metal materials within our facility. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, your role will leverage core skills in mechanical knowledge. You will be expected to perform heavy lifting and operate forklifts safely, ensuring a smooth workflow. Your relevant skills in hand tools, basic maths, and assembly will further enhance our operations, making you a vital part of our team dedicated to quality and efficiency.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Sort and categorize various types of metal materials using mechanical knowledge and hand tools.
- Operate forklifts to transport heavy materials safely within the facility.
- Perform basic assembly tasks/Deal with members of the public and trade.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Employer Expectations
- Candidate has to be able to work as part of a small team and use their own initiative when things get busy.
- Experience in the metal industry is an advantage and also experience in using heavy machinery and driving a forklift.
