Job Overview
Cambuslang based care home are looking for a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join their team.
As Kitchen Assistant within the care home, you will play a pivotal role, supporting Chefs and working together to deliver tasty, nutritious, and varied meals.
Passion, drive, and enthusiasm are key qualities for a Kitchen Assistant and for many this is the start of their culinary journey into becoming a Chef one day. However, if you’re happy in a support role that’s ok!
There are 3 shifts within kitchen 8-4, 10.30-6.30 and 4.30 – 6. We can be flexible with hours and do a mixture of shifts to suit, we also have bank staff.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Key Tasks
- Support the Chefs during food preparation and meal service.
- Prep and Serve Breakfast.
- Assist in the basic preparation of food when required.
- Keep all areas of the kitchen clean, safe, and free from clutter.
- Empty rubbish bins and maintain all refuse areas.
- Use and store chemicals in line with COSHH requirements.
- Wash crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils.
- Deep clean kitchen and cooking appliances.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries.
- Work as a team to deliver high quality meals.
- Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Adhere to all Food Safety & Hygiene and Health & Safety Legislation.
- Maintain accurate records.
