  • Fully funded Enhanced DBS
  • Guaranteed hours available following successful completion of probation
  • Day and night shifts available (12-hour shifts: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm / 8:00 pm - 8:00 am)

About the Role

Routes Healthcare is seeking a dedicated

Complex Care Assistant to provide one-to-one support within a client's home in Durham.

You will support an individual living with a spinal injury and complex care needs , helping them to live safely, comfortably, and as independently as possible while receiving high-quality, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred care with dignity, compassion, and respect.
  • Support with personal care, moving and handling, and daily living activities.
  • Assist with medication administration and clinical observations.
  • Support with bowel care, catheter care, and other clinical interventions (full training provided).
  • Follow individualised care plans and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records.
  • Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and the wider care team.

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum of 6 months' UK care experience.
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
  • Experience supporting individuals with spinal injuries, complex care needs, or physical disabilities.
  • Experience with moving and handling.
  • Reliable, compassionate, and professional approach to care.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in complex care.
  • Experience with catheter care, bowel care, tracheostomy care, or ventilation support.
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
