About the Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic, engaging, and compassionate care assistant to support children, young people, and vulnerable adults in and around Chesterfield. You will be working with clients with Learning Difficulties, often on the Autistic Spectrum, providing care in the community and supporting them to access activities for social stimulation.
You will be:
- Providing 1-2-1 personal care with dignity and respect
- Supporting clients with epilepsy/seizures and administering Buccal Midazolam (training provided if needed)
- Using alternative communication methods such as Makaton, visual aid symbols, and other prompts
- Supporting clients who may be non-verbal or have limited communication abilities
- Managing challenging behaviour with patience and understanding
- Transporting clients and colleagues in your own car to activities and appointments
- Following care plans and maintaining accurate records
Essential Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence and own car for business use
- Right to work in the UK without needing employer support
- At least 6 months paid care experience in the UK
- Comfortable providing personal care
- Flexibility essential - varied hours required to meet clients' needs
- Reliable, compassionate, and committed to excellent care
Desirable:
- Working with children
- Valid training in Epilepsy/Seizure management and Buccal Midazolam administration
- Experience with alternative communication methods (Makaton, visual aids)
- Experience supporting clients with challenging behaviour
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
