Paediatric Complex Care Assistant (female) – Stanley, County Durham £16.25 per hour (including holiday pay) | 12-hour day and night shifts | Guaranteed hours after probation Could you help a little one grow up at home, with their family?
We're looking for a caring, patient carer to join a small team supporting a young child who needs specialised care. Because of that care, this child can be at home with the people who love them rather than in hospital.
You'll be there for the everyday moments: bath time, cuddles, play, bedtime routines and the milestones in between. You'll also give the family peace of mind, knowing their child is in safe hands while they rest, work or spend time together.
The role
The child has a tracheostomy and is ventilated. You'll receive full training in their care, with 24/7 clinical support whenever you need it. Working alongside the family and the child's healthcare professionals, you'll keep them safe and comfortable and help them enjoy their day.
What you'll do
• Provide one-to-one care with dignity and compassion, following the child's care plan and risk assessments.
• Carry out tracheostomy and ventilator care, clinical observations and medication administration (full training provided).
• Support personal care, moving and handling, and daily routines.
• Keep accurate, up-to-date care records.
• Work closely with the family, healthcare professionals and the wider care team.
What you'll gain
• Specialist paediatric clinical training and ongoing development.
• Tracheostomy and ventilation competencies you can take into nursing or other complex care roles.
• The same client and the same team every shift.
• 24/7 clinical support.
• Clear routes for career progression.
• Fully funded Enhanced DBS.
• Referral bonus of up to £250.
What we're looking for
Essential:
• Experience caring for babies or young children, in a paid role, nursing placement or professional childcare setting.
• At least 6 months' UK care experience.
• Moving and handling experience.
• A calm, gentle and reliable approach, and the confidence to stay composed if something changes quickly.
• The right to work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship).
Desirable:
• Paediatric complex care experience.
• Tracheostomy or ventilation experience.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or current nursing or childcare studies.
Shifts
12-hour shifts: 8am–8pm (days) and 8pm–8am (nights).
Please note
This role is open to female applicants only. Being female is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 due to the personal care needs of this package. xiskglj
