As a Product Designer at RouteNote, you'll help improve and shape the products and services used by artists, labels and creators. This is primarily a UX focused role. We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding problems, asking questions and figuring out what's actually going on before moving into solutions. We're a small team, so ownership matters. You'll be trusted to manage your own work, collaborate closely with developers and stakeholders, and take projects from discovery through to launch and iteration.

We care a lot about process. We're looking for someone who understands and applies user centred design through research, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, testing and iteration. We need someone who is resourceful, comfortable working with imperfect information and able to find answers from a range of sources. Strong UX thinking is essential. Strong design craft matters too. We need someone who can work confidently within established brands and design systems whilst helping improve and evolve them over time.

Duties:

  • Own projects from discovery through to launch and iteration
  • Define problems, not just solve them
  • Apply a structured UX process to investigate, validate and refine solutions
  • Research users, products and opportunities to inform decisions
  • Invest time in understanding our products, systems, users and business before proposing solutions
  • Help us improve RouteNote based on the needs of our users and business
  • Balance user needs, business goals and technical constraints
  • Create user journeys, flows, wireframes, high fidelity designs to handover
  • Work closely with developers, stakeholders and other departments
  • Present and communicate your thinking clearly
  • Test ideas, gather feedback and iterate based on evidence
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems, patterns and documentation
  • Document decisions and contribute to shared team knowledge
  • Estimate, plan and manage your work effectively
  • Communicate timelines, blockers and risks proactively
  • Contribute to improving team processes and ways of working

Qualifications:

  • Completion of the Google UX Design Professional Certificate or equivalent
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong UX thinking, problem solving and design craft
  • Demonstrable application of the methodologies and processes taught within the Google UX Design Professional Certificate
  • Proven alignment with our team values
  • 2+ years experience in product, UX or digital design

Knowledge and experience:

  • Strong understanding of UX principles and user centred design
  • Experience applying a structured design process from discovery through to delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating closely with developers and stakeholders
  • Experience using Figma or equivalent, and modern design tools
  • Experience working within design systems and component libraries
  • Strong visual design skills and understanding of hierarchy, layout, typography and interaction design
  • Experience estimating, planning and managing work independently
  • Interest in content design, brand voice and brand experience
  • Interest in music, music technology or music distribution

Values and behaviours:

  • Curious and motivated by understanding problems
  • Comfortable asking questions and challenging assumptions
  • Takes ownership and follows work through
  • Resourceful and comfortable working with imperfect information
  • Communicates openly and honestly
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Cares about quality, consistency and craft
  • Wants to contribute to the growth of the team, not just their own work
  • Excited by the opportunity to shape new ideas and future products
  • Interested in improving processes and ways of working

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Wellness programme
