You’ll be joining a growing organisation in the UK of over 250 associates at one of the UK's leading distributors of industrial automation and control products. A Components Product Sales Specialist (PSS) is responsible for providing technical knowledge, advice and pre‑sales support to external customers, to develop profitable IC and Safety & Sensing Components sales growth within both Routeco and Rockwell Automation accounts, in line with company goals, targets and objectives. The role encompasses the development of existing accounts and new business development targets with technical sales solutions.

The key elements of the role will include:

  • Increase Rockwell spend within all accounts
  • Grow complementary products within all accounts
  • Increase KAM scores
  • Spending account retention
  • Key franchise review meetings
  • E‑commerce trading account increase
  • Senior management visits
  • Training needs management
  • New Prospect account management
  • Monthly business unit reviews
  • Monthly sales engineer reviews

Job responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the profitable growth of the Components business in the relevant geographical area.
  • To manage the day‑to‑day sales activity of Components products.
  • To be instrumental in finding and converting new business development opportunities and priority target accounts.
  • To offer technical training, advice and assistance to Routeco internal and external personnel.
  • Attend joint customer visits with Routeco Sales Engineers, Sales Managers, Rockwell Account Managers and other external Routeco sales teams to all accounts.
  • Ensure own level of personal development and product knowledge is kept up to date and relevant.
  • Communicate and interface with Service Centres and other departments on technical and commercial issues and portray a professional image at all times.
  • Be accountable for personal development and contribute to the evaluation of performance in line with Routeco’s core competencies and learning and development framework.
  • Takes on additional tasks in order to meet departmental, project related or developmental objectives.

What do you need to bring to Routeco?

  • HNC/HND or higher in electrical engineering (or equivalent electrical engineering qualification) is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the application and selection of IC and Safety & Sensing Components is required.
  • Experience in industrial field sales is important.
  • The ability to provide effective technical solutions, solve problems and endeavour to provide continuous benefits for both the customer and the company.
  • An individual who enjoys personal interaction, problem solving, creating and maintaining relationships as well as making a good impression both personally and for the organisation.
  • The ability and willingness to work collaboratively with all Routeco sales teams is absolutely essential.
  • Effective and timely communication skills and good PC skills are necessary.
  • The ability to work reliably under pressure and exhibit exceptional technical and commercial acumen.
  • Persistence and flexibility to see tasks through to conclusion.
