We're looking for a passionate and skilled Line Cook to join our friendly team at Route 74 Truckstop. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy kitchen, takes pride in producing hearty, well-presented food, and wants to be part of a supportive and energetic team.

As a Catering Chef, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality meals to our customers, supporting the wider kitchen operations, and helping maintain our strong reputation for great food and great service.

About the Role

  • Food Preparation & Cooking
    • Prepare and cook a wide range of hot and cold dishes to consistently high standards.
    • Support menu planning, daily specials, and food presentation.
    • Work confidently across all sections including the griddle, hot plate, and meal service areas.
  • Daily Kitchen Tasks
    • Complete daily prep including vegetables, soups, sauces, and batch cooking.
    • Ensure all food is prepared in line with portion control, allergen guidelines, and company standards.
  • Kitchen Operations
    • Work as part of a fast-paced kitchen serving around 300 covers per day.
    • Communicate effectively with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to maintain smooth service flow.
  • Cleaning & Hygiene
    • Ensure all equipment, surfaces, and utensils are cleaned to high standards at the end of each shift.
    • Maintain compliance with food safety, HACCP, and hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Teamwork & Support
    • Contribute positively to the team culture.
    • Support colleagues, share knowledge, and help maintain a friendly, efficient working environment.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a busy commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong cooking skills with experience in high-volume catering.
  • A good understanding of food safety, allergen management, and kitchen best practice.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (training can be provided if required).
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and work efficiently to deadlines.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
  • Hardworking, reliable, and self-motivated, with a passion for delivering great food.
