We're looking for a passionate and skilled Line Cook to join our friendly team at Route 74 Truckstop. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy kitchen, takes pride in producing hearty, well-presented food, and wants to be part of a supportive and energetic team. As a Catering Chef, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality meals to our customers, supporting the wider kitchen operations, and helping maintain our strong reputation for great food and great service.

About the Role

  • Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook a wide range of hot and cold dishes to consistently high standards. Support menu planning, daily specials, and food presentation. Work confidently across all sections including the griddle, hot plate, and meal service areas.
  • Daily Kitchen Tasks: Complete daily prep including vegetables, soups, sauces, and batch cooking. Ensure all food is prepared in line with portion control, allergen guidelines, and company standards.
  • Kitchen Operations: Work as part of a fast-paced kitchen serving around 300 covers per day. Communicate effectively with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to maintain smooth service flow.
  • Cleaning & Hygiene: Ensure all equipment, surfaces, and utensils are cleaned to high standards at the end of each shift. Maintain compliance with food safety, HACCP, and hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Teamwork & Support: Contribute positively to the team culture. Support colleagues, share knowledge, and help maintain a friendly, efficient working environment.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a busy commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong cooking skills with experience in high-volume catering.
  • A good understanding of food safety, allergen management, and kitchen best practice.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (training can be provided if required).
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and work efficiently to deadlines.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
  • Hardworking, reliable, and self-motivated, with a passion for delivering great food.
