An opportunity has arisen for a friendly, enthusiastic, motivated team player to join Roundwood Surgery family. We are looking to cover 8 sessions per week. The practice prides itself on both a commitment to providing an outstanding level of care for patients as well as a supportive environment for partners and staff. We are looking for a GP whose energy can enhance our team to help support training for the next generation and improve sustainability with a range of care and services we offer our patients.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a skilled GP to manage and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring high standards of care for all registered and temporary patients with an interest in training junior doctors through the training scheme (currently qualified or training/willing to train to become a trainer).
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organization.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Covering a variety of duties, including face-to-face appointments, telephone consultations/triage and home visits.
- Completing/reviewing the necessary daily paperwork, for example results, prescribing of medication, review and action of clinical letters.

Roundwood Surgery operates under the management of 5 GP Partners from a purpose-built surgery in central Mansfield and benefits from a smaller branch surgery in Forest Town. We are a supportive practice with an emphasis on staff welfare and a good work-life balance. We are very proud of the outstanding care we give and the fact we enjoy a low staff turnover.
List size of 13600 patients.
Training
Practice with up to 4 registrars and two F2 trainees. One Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 6 practice nurses (1 nurse prescriber), Support from Diabetes Nurse Specialist 1 day per week, 2 Health Care Assistants and a phlebotomist. A full complement of experienced reception and administration staff. Primary Care Network support of Social Prescribers, Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Physiotherapist, Health and Well Being Coach and Mental Health OT & CPN nurse. Community Practice Nurse, Nurse Associate and Specialist Nurse Support for Learning Disabilities.
Q.O.F.- high achieving. Use of SystmOne software.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, triage visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents as required.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organization.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Supervision of GP Registrars and Foundation Doctors under the guidance of the GP Trainers.
- On Call Surgeries.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans to support good health outcomes.
- To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.
- Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to Practice protocols as and when needed.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions wherever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Participate in training plans of medical students as required.
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
- Maintaining, monitoring, and updating computer databases and management of medical records and practice audits.
- Ensure that practice clinical databases are updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services.
- Appropriate use of snomed/read codes.
- Participating in the collection and collation of statistics towards the preparation of practice reports, performance monitoring and clinical audits.
- Participating in the auditing of practice activity as required by the GP contracts and or service level agreements.
Practice Organisation
- Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence.
- Attendance at in-house meetings, significant event audit meetings and others as deemed necessary.
- Ensure that the practice complaints system is adhered to at all times.
- Awareness and compliance with all relevant guidelines e.g., Information governance, data protection, confidentiality and health and safety.
- Maintain current CPR and anaphylaxis certification.

Providing information regarding immune consent with particular regard to Hepatitis B status. Identifying the risk involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks. Using appropriate infection control procedures particularly those relating to needlestick injuries, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards. Ensuring that all accident or dangerous accidents are reported and investigated, and follow up action taken where necessary.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
- Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983 (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
- Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register.
- Registered with a recognised medical defence organisation.
- Evidence of further postgraduate educational development e.g. MRCGP, DCH, DRCOG.
