Roundwood Park is a high achieving 11‑18 school in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. We were named Sunday Times Parent Power Comprehensive School of the Year for SE England for 2024. Our Governance Professional to the Governing Board is stepping away from the role this summer, after supporting us for nearly 15 years, and we are seeking her replacement. Full training for the new person will be provided, and there is no expectation that they will have any prior knowledge of education sector governance and law. However, experience in similar work, involving minute‑taking, attention to law and guidance, and maintaining records is likely to be of considerable advantage; as will be flexibility to attend meetings (most of which are rescheduled in an annual programme).
Our OFSTED grading has been confirmed as Outstanding (November 2023) and the inspection team have written that: Staff say that they are very well supported. Staff feel valued. They have high praise for how leaders look after the staff's well‑being and their workload. A school of exceptional quality. Pupils meet leaders' exceptionally high expectations for their work, personal development and behaviour. A highly ambitious curriculum is in place for all pupils. A broad and rich curriculum prepares pupils exceptionally well.
At Roundwood Park School, we continue to strive to build a diverse and inclusive workplace ensuring that our student body is represented in the staff and where everyone feels valued. Through our work in the last year with the Great Representation programme and the completion of the Anti‑racist School Audit with HFL Education, we are actively committed to ensuring equity and inclusion is a continued priority throughout all things we do. It forms a major element of our school improvement plan in order that the work we do makes a sustained difference for all. We therefore strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups, and are committed to create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard and feels that they belong - a place where everyone can flourish.
We will need to obtain references in advance of interview for any candidate short‑listed, and all job offers are subject to satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.
