General Builder / Maintenance role based on a University Campus with a salary of £28,000-£32,000 (OTE £35K-40K) plus additional benefits.
This Maintenance Technician role suits a General Builder or Multi-Trade Operative with a background in brickwork, drainage, roofing, external works or similar looking for a permanent, in-house position with steady hours and consistent workload.
This position involves carrying out a wide range of building repairs across live campus buildings, roads, pathways, drainage systems and building fabric.
The Role:
- Road, pathway and paving repairs
- Brickwork, blockwork and small concrete repairs
- Drainage repairs, unblocking and minor excavation work
- Roofing, guttering, lead flashing and chimney repairs
- Door repairs, ironmongery, shelving, signage and general carpentry
- Basic plumbing repairs to sanitary ware, toilets, sinks and pipework
- Installing wooden or concrete ramps and handrails
- General building fabric repairs across occupied campus buildings
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Logging work, risk assessments and updates via CAFM system
Hours, Overtime & Call-Out:
- 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday
- Paid overtime available
- Call-out rota approx. 1 weekend in every 4-5
- £2,700 annual call-out rota payment
- Standby: £38.20 weekday / £70.20 weekend or bank holiday
- Attendance: approx. £15 per hour (minimum 2 hours per call-out)
Salary Enhancements:
- £600 per year uplifts available for additional skills:
- Lead roofing / flashing
- Sarnafil roofing systems
- Plaster patching / making good
The Person:
- General Builder, Multi-Trade Operative or Building Fabric Technician
- Strong background in brickwork, drainage, roofing or external works
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or time-served equivalent
- Able to work independently and manage varied repair work
- Professional, reliable and customer-facing
- Full UK driving licence
