Are you a Maintenance Technician or similar looking for a stable, days‑based role in a University setting with paid overtime, structured call‑out payments and salary uplifts for trade skills? This is a permanent in‑house position within a large University estate, offering predictable hours, a professional working environment and the chance to increase earnings through overtime and skill‑based uplifts - without contract instability.
The Role
- Working as part of an established Estates team, you will carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance across occupied campus buildings, including:
- General building and fabric maintenance
- Plumbing repairs to sanitary ware and pipework
- Carpentry (doors, ironmongery, shelving, fittings)
- Minor roofing and guttering repairs
- Brickwork, paving and small concrete works
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Logging works and risk assessments via CAFM systems
Hours, Overtime & Call‑Out
- 36 hours per week, Monday‑Friday
- Paid overtime available
- Call‑out rota approx. 1 weekend in every 4‑5
- Standby payments: £38.20 per weekday, £70.20 per weekend / public holiday
- Attendance approx. £15 per hour, minimum 2 hours paid per call‑out
- Call‑outs are generally infrequent and short.
Salary Enhancements
- £600 per annum uplifts available for additional skills such as:
- Lead roofing / flashing
- Sarnafil roofing systems
- Plaster patching / making good
