The Role

  • Carry out a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance carpentry across campus buildings.
  • Repair and install door hardware, access control, and fire-release mechanisms.
  • Assemble and fit kitchen units and worktops.
  • Support listed building works and help preserve heritage assets.
  • Provide input on small projects, estimates, and improvements.
  • Join the on-call rota (one weekend in 4-5) with a £2,750 allowance plus overtime for call-outs.
  • Work independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team.

The Person

  • NVQ Level 3 or recognised apprenticeship in Carpentry (or equivalent).
  • Skilled in maintenance carpentry across doors, fittings, and building fabric.
  • Able to use woodworking machinery and handheld tools confidently.
  • Organised, reliable, and comfortable working independently.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.
  • Flexible to join the on-call rota when required.
