Are you an experienced PMO Manager who enjoys bringing structure, visibility and accountability to complex delivery environments? We’re working with a growing specialist managed IT services and cybersecurity business supporting customers across highly regulated sectors, including financial services, policing and energy.
As the Delivery function continues to grow, they are creating a new PMO Manager position to establish and mature the PMO function and play a key role in shaping how delivery operates at scale. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who can combine strong PMO governance with commercial awareness, people leadership and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
What you'll be doing:
- You’ll lead the PMO function and work closely with Delivery leadership, Project Managers and wider business stakeholders to improve visibility, consistency and delivery performance.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the PMO function, including line management of Project Managers
- Establishing and improving PMO frameworks, standards, governance and ways of working
- Providing portfolio-level visibility across performance, risks, dependencies and resources
- Developing KPIs, dashboards and management reporting to support better decision-making
- Supporting portfolio planning, resource allocation and capacity management
- Monitoring project financial performance, budgets, forecasts, revenue and profitability
- Driving effective risk, issue and quality management
- Coaching and developing Project Managers, promoting accountability and continuous improvement
- Managing relationships with contract Field Service Engineers and supporting resource planning
- Working closely with Delivery, Technology, Operations and Commercial teams
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, tools, efficiency and customer outcomes
- Acting as a trusted partner and escalation point for delivery-related matters
What we're looking for:
We're looking for an experienced PMO professional who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels. You'll ideally bring:
- Proven experience leading or managing a PMO / Project Management Office
- Experience managing and developing Project Managers
- Strong portfolio governance, reporting and performance management experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Strong commercial and financial awareness
- Experience with resource planning, capacity management and delivery metrics
- A structured, analytical approach with the ability to turn complex information into clear insights
- A track record of driving continuous improvement and organisational change
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- The confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively
- A recognised PMO, Project, Programme or Portfolio Management qualification such as PRINCE2, AgilePM, MSP, MoP, P3O or PMP would be advantageous.
- Experience within IT services, managed services, cybersecurity, infrastructure or another complex/regulated delivery environment would be particularly relevant.
