A well established, friendly and successful private London based property investment and development company are looking for a Group Health & Safety Assistant based in Islington, N1. This permanent position is part of the in‑house Commercial property management team. The role will include helping oversee all aspects of Health & Safety across all departments within the Company.
Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
- The group Health & Safety assistant will help oversee and enhance the standards within the organisation.
- You will be working with the Group Health and Safety Manager to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations are followed while fostering a culture of safety among our group.
- Assist with liaising with the principal H&S Consultants and attend quarterly meetings with them and relevant members of staff.
- Attend quarterly H&S Committee Meetings to ensure awareness and compliance throughout the company.
- Help Co-ordinate regular meetings with asbestos and legionella consultants and Property Managers.
- Ensure all training for staff is current and renewed within relevant timeframes.
- Assist with the management of the H&S software and help provide user training for all new staff members and refresher training for all users.
- Assist with H&S compliance over the entire portfolio and help compile data on all existing statutory documentation.
- Assist with the tender of all H&S survey fees for Fire/General Risk Assessments, Water Hygiene RAs, Asbestos Management surveys.
- Assist with the reviews of company policies which include all management plans.
- Assist with the administration of the approved contractor list (ACL).
- Help ensure that suitable procedures are set up and rolled out to sites for all foreseeable emergencies.
- Provide advice and assistance to staff, contractors and tenants, where necessary, in all H&S matters.
- Seek to continually improve and maintain high levels of H&S awareness and compliance throughout the company and the whole portfolio.
- Keep staff updated on CDM regulations as they change.
- Help manage the process of reporting any incidents to the HSE (RIDDOR).
- Help manage through to completion any Priority 1’s as they appear on Meridian.
The Successful Applicant will need to possess the following skills:
- Minimum 1-2 years in a Health and Safety support role, multi-site or group level.
- Desirable to have sufficient experience of overseeing Health & Safety in a commercial and residential property setting.
- Must have NEBOSH-General Certificate.
- 5 GCSEs (9-4) (A-C) inc. English and Maths.
- Level 3 NVQ in H&S or equivalent professional qualifications.
- Desirable to have IOSH Managing Safety Certificate.
- Good communicator, professional in approach.
- Flexible and able to effectively prioritise workload.
- Confident and persuasive.
- Positive team player.
- Honest and trustworthy.
- Ability to travel in and around London (occasional travel outside London).
- Computer literate with Microsoft suite of products (Outlook; Excel, Word).
- Good experience in Health & safety property management computer.
The hours will be: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm
Salary range will be: £30,000 to £35,000pa
