Consett, Durham CAV Systems is looking for a Maintenance Operative to join our team and play a key role in keeping our manufacturing facility, machinery and equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently. This is a hands-on, varied role suited to a practical time-served mechanical professional who enjoys solving problems, working across multiple trades and taking ownership of maintenance tasks.
The Role
Working alongside the Maintenance Technician, youll be responsible for: Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and inspections on machinery, buildings and equipment.
Supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and ensuring tasks are completed within agreed timescales.
Fault finding, diagnosing issues and carrying out effective repairs.
Undertaking basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and decorating work.
Working with a range of materials including wood and metal.
Liaising with contractors and suppliers when required.
Supporting Capex projects and continuous improvement activities.
Maintaining excellent health and safety standards across the site.
About You
Were looking for someone who is proactive, self-sufficient and hands-on, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage their own workload with limited supervision. Youll ideally have: A time-served mechanical background.
Experience across multiple maintenance trades.
Manufacturing experience
desirable.
A full driving licence.
Good Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Outlook.
