Are you an experienced Inspection Engineer ready to take on a leadership role? Would you like the opportunity to shape a high-performing team in a global manufacturing organisation? This is a hands-on leadership role at a leading manufacturing site in Lincolnshire, where you'll supervise and support a team of 6–8 inspectors. With a strong reputation for high-precision components and global operations, the business is looking for a confident and skilled Lead Inspector to join the team and shape the department!

What You’ll Be Doing as an Inspection Engineer?

  • Leading a small team within the inspection department, reporting directly to the Head of Quality Control.
  • Supporting technical discussions with Process and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Troubleshooting inspection challenges and advising machine operators on measurement and drawing interpretation.
  • Using and programming CMM machines (Mitutoyo – MCosmos; Zeiss – Calypso).
  • Interpreting complex engineering drawings with GD&T, using both imperial and metric units.
  • Operating manual inspection equipment and understanding machining processes like turning, milling, and grinding.
  • Taking a leading role in team development, training, and succession planning.
  • Driving the department’s return to a “centre of excellence” for inspection.

What You’ll Need as an Inspection Engineer?

  • A strong inspection background with at least 5 years' experience, ideally coming through an apprenticeship, HNC or HND route.
  • Proven ability to program and operate CMMs (Mitutoyo essential, Zeiss desirable).
  • Deep understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and metrology principles (including submicron measurement).
  • Experience working within precision engineering, ideally aerospace or similar.
  • Confident leadership and communication skills with the ability to mentor and train others.
